AGE WELL EVERYDAY (AWE)
Building Resilient Minds, One Community at a Time
"Active Ageing in the community, by the community, for the community."
A community programme that helps older adults stay mentally alert, emotionally resilient, and socially connected – all key factors in preventing dementia and promoting lifelong well-being.
WHAT IS AWE?
Research Translated into Everyday Practice
Built on years of research into ageing and mental health, AWE translates scientific findings into a practical programme that communities can run, lead, and sustain. Through this translational approach, research moves beyond academic papers – it becomes part of everyday life.

WHAT HAPPENS IN AWE
Science-Backed Activities for Healthy Ageing
Each AWE session combines activities grounded in dementia prevention research – cognitive stimulation, emotional regulation, physical movement, and social engagement. Participants don’t just learn about healthy ageing – they practice it, together.
Art & Music Reminiscence
Horticultural Therapy
Gardening activities promote physical movement, sensory stimulation, and purposeful engagement with nature.
Mindful Awareness Practice
Mindfulness exercises reduce stress, improve emotional regulation, and enhance present-moment awareness.
Physical Exercise
Gentle movement – tai chi, walking, stretching – supports cardiovascular health and cognitive function.
Cognitive Activities
Games, puzzles, and mental challenges keep the brain sharp and engaged
Health Education
Sessions on managing chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension – because physical and mental health are interconnected
HOW IT WORKS
Volunteer-Led,
Community-Driven
AWE’s Strength Lies
in Its People
The programme is designed to be community-owned and volunteer-led, growing organically within local networks rather than relying on external facilitators.
This model keeps AWE grounded in the communities it serves – community-owned, self-sustaining, and rooted in science.
“Early psychosocial interventions can reduce the incidence of dementia, improve elderly people’s quality of life, reduce the disease burden on families and society, and ultimately help elderly people achieve what they all hope for in old age – prosperity, fortune, and longevity.”
– Wu et al., The Lancet (2014)
